# Malt × Antasphere Hackathon 2026

> The Malt × Antasphere AI Hackathon is a one-day sprint for Belgium's senior AI freelancers on Friday 2 October 2026 at WAT, Brussels: one tool for an agent that uses a computer, coaches in the room, a jury at six. This page is the platform side of that day and the starter every team begins from.

Everything else about the event, the theme, the eight directions, the jury, the coaches, the partners, the
prizes and the rules, is on [hackathon.antasphere.com](https://hackathon.antasphere.com); the scoring grid,
six criteria on a 1 to 5 scale, is at
[hackathon.antasphere.com/evaluation](https://hackathon.antasphere.com/evaluation).

## The day

| When | What |
| - | - |
| Thursday 1 October, 19:00 | By email: your team, the briefing, your way into the platform and its chats, the partners' docs and walkthrough video. |
| Friday 2 October, 08:00 | Doors and breakfast at WAT, Rue Volta 6A, Ixelles. |
| 08:30 | Kick-off: thirty minutes on the theme and the people. The clock starts. |
| 09:00 | The build sprint, coaches in the room all day. |
| 12:30 | Working lunch, at the desks. |
| 18:00 | Pitches, jury and prizes. The clock stops. |
| 19:00 | Drinks. |

On the platform, the build end, the fifteen minutes of grace and the freeze are the schedule the organizers
set; the Home page counts down to them on the server's clock
([The clock, the grace and the freeze](/hackathon/concepts/the-clock)).

## What a team gets

* **A private repository of your own**, created by the organizers from the event's starter, with each
  member's GitHub account invited. Your team keeps it after the day.
* **The starter**, a working tool with hands, ears and a voice, described below.
* **Access to the two sponsored services for the day**: H Company's computer-use agents and Gradium's voice
  API. The site says what each partner gives and when it reaches you: the Gradium code once your seat is
  confirmed, H's docs and walkthrough the night before.
* **The coaches**, on the Chats page and in the room.

## The starter: hands, ears and voice

The starter is a working tool you build on: a dashboard, a command-line client (`starter`) and an MCP
endpoint an agent connects to, over one API. It comes wired to two services:

* **Gradium, the voice**: it speaks a text as a wav file, and it turns a recording back into text.
* **H, an agent in a cloud browser**: you say what to do on the web in plain words, it does it in a real
  browser you can watch live, and it answers in plain text.

A key left out stops nothing: the routes that need it answer with a sentence naming the key to set, and the
dashboard's **Try it** page says the same.

### How to start

1. **Clone your team's repository**: say `/plugin:join` to Claude Code once the plugin below is installed,
   or do it with the hackathon command line, as on
   [Your hackathon, step by step](/hackathon/getting-started/participants): `npm i -g @antasphere/hackathon`,
   `hackathon login`, `hackathon connect`, then `hackathon setup --no-start`. The clone lands in
   `~/Antasphere/hackathon/<your-team>`, with the agent files installed and the app not started yet: the
   starter needs its environment file first.

2. **Write `.env`** at the root of the clone: a database password, and your two keys, `GRADIUM_API_KEY`
   (a key from the Gradium console, gradium.ai) and `HAI_API_KEY` (a key from H's platform,
   platform.hcompany.ai). A key you do not have yet can stay empty; add it later and restart the app.

   ```bash theme={"theme":{"light":"rose-pine-dawn","dark":"rose-pine-moon"}}
   cd ~/Antasphere/hackathon/<your-team>
   cat > .env <<ENV
   POSTGRES_PASSWORD=$(openssl rand -hex 16)
   GRADIUM_API_KEY=<your Gradium key>
   HAI_API_KEY=<your H key>
   ENV
   chmod 600 .env
   ```

3. **Start the app**: `hackathon setup` again. It keeps the clone, builds the image, starts the app on
   `http://localhost:3000` and waits until it answers. `hackathon doctor` checks it all without changing
   anything.

4. **Claim your instance.** On the first boot the dashboard asks for the owner account and the setup
   token, which the server writes to its log. The setup runs the app under the compose project
   `hackathon-<your-team>`, so read the token with
   `docker compose -p hackathon-<your-team> logs app | grep 'claim the instance'` from the clone.

5. **Try it.** Sign in, open **Try it** in the menu: the two integrations with their state, a text to speak,
   a microphone to transcribe, and an instruction to run in a browser, with its live view and its answer.

The same from the command line, from the clone. First create a key on the **API keys** page with the write
box ticked (the dialog defaults to read only), then build the CLI once and define `starter` as a shell
function:

```bash theme={"theme":{"light":"rose-pine-dawn","dark":"rose-pine-moon"}}
pnpm install && pnpm turbo build --filter=@antasphere/starter
STARTER_DIR="$PWD"; starter() { node "$STARTER_DIR/packages/cli/dist/bin.js" "$@"; }
starter login --api-url http://localhost:3000 --api-key <the key you created>
starter speak "Bonjour"                                          # writes speech.wav
starter transcribe speech.wav                                    # prints the text
starter run "What is the main heading of example.com?" --wait   # polls until done, then the answer
```

An agent connects to `http://localhost:3000/mcp` and finds the same verbs as tools: `starter_voice_speak`,
`starter_voice_transcribe`, `starter_run_start`, `starter_run_get` and `starter_list_runs`.

### The hackathon plugin

The participant skills are not in the repository: they are the hackathon's Claude Code plugin. Install it
once, in Claude Code:

```
/plugin marketplace add antasphere-hackathon/plugin
/plugin install plugin@antasphere-hackathon
```

* **`/plugin:join`** does the start above with you: the command line, the sign-in, your GitHub username and
  invitation, the clone, the `.env` file (it fills the database password and leaves your two keys for you to
  paste), then the start and the app opened.
* **`/plugin:check`** runs `hackathon doctor` and walks you through each failed check, restarts the app when
  it is down, then reads `hackathon event status`: the phase, the deadlines and the freeze.
* **`/plugin:demo`** makes your demo deck: it plays your running app with Playwright, takes one screenshot
  per step, builds the deck from them (one slide per step, so the jury can follow alone in five minutes,
  ending with what is not finished yet), hosts it on Slideless and hands its link to the platform with
  `hackathon decks link`.

The `add-resource` skill of the starter walks a new resource through every layer of the tool, from the
table to the dashboard page, the way the placeholder was added. Rename the tool when it becomes yours:
`pnpm instantiate <slug> --name "<Name>"`.

### What the starter also carries

The starter is an Antasphere tool like the platform itself: members and workspaces, API keys, an audit log,
files, a versioned HTTP API with its OpenAPI document, a dashboard in English and French, background jobs,
and the MCP endpoint. The placeholder resource, `items`, goes through every one of those layers and is the
example to follow, then replace, with your own.

## At the end of the day

Push before the freeze, and check on the Home page that the platform received your last revision. Hand in
your two Slideless links with `hackathon decks link`, or say `/plugin:demo` to your agent for the demo deck. The jury opens the
demo decks after the event, so never share a link with a password or an expiry before Friday evening. The
third link, the vote presentation the other participants rank on the Vote page, goes in with
`hackathon decks link --vote`, or say `/plugin:vote` to your agent.
